 “Her house, like all the other houses, seemed like an ordinary tree. But these trees permitted creatures to live in them. You can identify a “housetree” by a very faint walking path that ends at the tree. Laura put on her backpack and walked down her path toward the center of “town” – which, of course, was just a forest.”
